Play Description
You Are Here: Pop-Up Docs answers these questions in a delightful and engaging format that combines live performance and digital documentaries. Meet Zippy and Driver, your hosts, and follow them as they discover local history and meet residents from across the city. All the while trying to answer the question what was here? And why does it matter?
Pop-Up Docs will be performed at three different locations in the neighbourhoods of Beacon Hill, Fernwood, and Hillside-Quadra. Each location highlights different history and features a new part of the story of Pop-Up Docs. Staff members will direct audience members to travel between locations.
Frequently Asked Questions
How Much Is Pop-Up Docs?
It’s free to watch! We encourage and welcome donations for what you feel the value of attending the show is.
Three different shows at three different locations? How does that work?
On April 22, 23, and 29, Pop-Up Docs will begin their Fernwood show at 1:00 pm at the address below. Once the show is over, audiences are responsible to make their way to the Beacon Hill show, and after Beacon Hill, back over to Hillside-Quadra.
Think of it similar to the SKAMpede festival–it’s just a micro-festival at three different venues!
On April 30, the show will be at a single location. It will begin outside near 901 Kings Rd at 1:00 pm
Are we responsible for our own transporation between venues?
Yes, you are. We will not be transporting audience members from location to location. Ideally, cyclists will go together as a group to and from each location.
Ideally, cyclists will get to go together as a group from each location.
What's the best way to get from show to show?
We encourage biking or carpooling between locations! There will be a group of cyclists going from show to show together.
Given that these shows are on the weekend, busses will be running less frequently which may make it challenging to go make it to each show on time.
Is there parking?
We will not have parking demarcated for Pop-Up Docs audiences but there is street parking available at each location.
This is an outdoor show, what if it rains?
Our plan is to continue rain or shine. In the case of an extreme weather event, SKAM staff will make the call of whether to the cancel the event.
