SADIE FOX, THE SUSTAINABLE FOX

Board Member since September 25, 2024

I’m a queer white-settler, born on Snuneymuxw Territory and now residing on SÁNEĆ Territory. Thanks for stopping by the Fox Den! As the founder of The Sustainable Fox, I have made it my mission to spread awareness about ways individuals and organizations can reduce (nay, improve!) their environmental impact, with a focus on making waste reduction fun and accessible.

My eco-obsession began in earnest when my Fox-Brother challenged me to the Glass Jar Challenge: one month of putting all our trash in a jar. I won, but we both gained something greater. Since completing that challenge almost a decade ago, the way I see and think, and why I make the choices I do has changed drastically – along with the size of my trash bin.

I’ve been on a journey learning to live (my ever evolving version of) a sustainable life. This way of living brings me joy and satisfaction, but to get here I experienced frustration, disappointment, shame, and hopelessness often. These feelings can be overcome.

Living a minimal waste life isn’t as hard as you think! Switching to a minimal waste life takes practice, the right resources, and a fox hole full of positivity… I’m here to help you navigate that path!

    AMY FRUEH

Board Member since February 23, 2025

Amy Frueh (she/her) is a lifelong theatre nerd and former Lead Scenic Artist for the Pacific Opera. She spent her youth performing in musical theatre and studying classical voice but now can be found behind the scenes taking photos, making video, fabricating props, or painting sets. Sometimes she can be found sewing a puppet while wearing roller skates, but she usually prefers to keep her teeth in her head. Amy is passionate about mitigating the effects of climate change, and for her day job works as a communications and media specialist for the Investment Agriculture Foundation, supplying funding to farmers and food producers to ensure better food security in BC. She also believes that if you can get people to suspend their disbelief in a better future for even a moment, it will create a crack in current reality that will let some hope in—which is how she came to work with Theatre SKAM.

    CHARLES ROSS

Board Member since April 18, 2019

I was born in the town of Prince George, in British Columbia, Canada. Later, my family moved to the wee town of Nelson, a gorgeous little place featured in movie Roxanne.

Nelson is where I first discovered the theatre. My drama teachers saved my sanity. Acting gave me a place to focus my energy.

I studied theatre at the University Victoria’s Theatre program, back when Woolly Mammoth still roamed the barren pre-internet wastelands of the 1990’s. Since then my career has been happily writing, performing and touring solo shows. I sometimes miss being in big shows with a big cast. My community tends to be spread pretty far and wide.

The legions fans of Tolkien and Star Wars, who’ve attended my One Man Star Wars and One Man Lord of the Rings, have enriched my life with their own sense of community. I’ve toured the globe since 2002, sharing my frenetic, frequently nerdy creations with audiences of every stripe. Fandom is a community, theatre is community, and when I make a new show about something I love, I feel like it is what keeps my community together.
