There are so many ways to give back to your theatre community. Each and every one is important. For Giving Tuesday this year, we’ve compiled a few ways to support the arts.
DONATING
Supporting nonprofits like Theatre SKAM helps us sustain our work and do community projects. It allows for things like the construction of new spaces, jobs for the local community, and the production of new plays.
- One-Time: One-time donations provides infusions that help nonprofits reach important goals.
- Monthly: Monthly donations provides greater financial stability and allows for nonprofits to budget better.
SEEING A SHOW
This one seems obvious but it’s so important! Every show you see is an artist and arts company that you are supporting directly. Nothing is more important and encouraging than a full audience.
SPREADING THE WORD
Spread the word! A direct recommendation or invitation from someone can make all the difference in whether someone will see a show or not. Invite people to come to shows with you. Tell your coworkers, families, and friends about shows you like.
SUPPORTING ARTISTS DIRECTLY
Supporting artists happens in multiple ways: donating directly to them, following their shows across different theatre companies, buying merch, spreading the word…and more! This is all integral to sustaining the important creative work artists do.
VOLUNTEERING
Volunteering is a great way to support an arts nonprofit that enriches both you and the organisation. Volunteers make new connections, get great work experience, and often get to see the exhibits/festivals/shows! It also helps theatres like Theatre SKAM put on these events.
You can support SKAM directly in the following ways:
