2021 Summer Camp Counsellors

Chelsea MacEwan

Chelsea [She/Her] is a Victoria local who grew up dancing at Saanich dance studio, Allegro Performing Arts Centre. She went on to receive her diploma in Applied Performing arts from the Canadian College of Performing Arts in 2020. It was at CCPA where she found her own theatrical voice, which led her to write and direct award-winning mini-musical “BRUNCH: The Musical”. She has worked across BC, most notably in Kelowna and the Kootenays. Chelsea also has experience as a Choreographer, Composer, and Lighting Director. Chelsea is thrilled to be joining Skam as a camp counsellor this summer!

Landon Wong

Landon [He/Him] is a UVIC Theatre Student studying applied theatre and
education. He’s participated in several student productions both
onstage and offstage through the Phoenix Theatre and the Student
Alternative Theatre Company. He is particularly drawn to plays and
performances which allow for the exploration of themes such as
environmentalism, mental health, social justice, and the human
experience. Landon is thrilled to be working for Theatre SKAM this
summer and excited to learn from the wide variety of young artists
attending Theatre SKAM Summer Camps!

Maxwell Gallagher

Maxwell (or ‘Maxie’) [He/Him] is a 19-year-old artist and adventurer. He has taken a lot of inspiration from Ben Caplan- specifically his show “Oldstock: A Refugee Love Story” a beautiful piece of Canadian theatre with a gorgeous set, and clever storytelling. Maxwell is currently studying at the Canadian College Of Performing Arts, he also spent one year studying at Thompson Rivers University taking sociology, archeology and theatre courses. His favourite pastime is going on long walks in the woods with the intention to get lost while listening to music.

Nathan Corpus

Nathan [He/Him] is a young playwright, actor and director who is super excited to work with the SKAM team again this year. Nathan is an activist and artist who strongly believes in art being impactful as a form of social change and is so happy to share the healing, beautiful aspects of theatre with his students. This is his second year as a summer teaching artist with SKAM, he had a blast last year and he can’t wait to meet you!

Sophia Radford

Sophia [She/Her] is a performer, director, and writer heading into her final year studying Theatre at the University of Victoria. Sophia is thrilled to combine two of her biggest passions – theatre and teaching – at SKAM this summer. Select performances credits include The Children’s Hour (Phoenix), Othello (Phoenix) and Hey There, Mr. Moon (SATCo). She has taught English as a Second Language as well as drama, and can’t wait to work with the SKAM School.

Vanessa Wood

School Administrator & Teaching Artist

Vanessa [She/Her] is an artist, collaborator, and teacher. She started working with SKAM’s school of performing arts in the summer of 2020 and is so excited to be back teaching summer camps this year! Vanessa recently graduated from the University of Victoria’s theatre program with a minor in business. She has been a teaching artist for the past 4 years in both Calgary and Victoria. Vanessa is also the second recipient of the Spirit of the Phoenix award, recognized for creating community and embodying the spirit of the theatre department. Vanessa hopes to bring passion, positivity, and of course fun to her role with SKAM this summer. 

Devon Side Walker

Assistant School Administrator

Devon [She/Her] is an emerging artist currently training at the Canadian College of Performing Arts. She is an interdisciplinary performer (dance, voice, acting, choreography) with two decades of experience, and a life-long passion for performing and creating. Recent credits include multiple productions with Theatre Antigonish (Nova Scotia) while obtaining an undergraduate degree in Management and Business Administration from St. Francis Xavier University. Devon looks forward to combining her love of theatre with her business background as the Camp Administrator for Theatre SKAM this summer, and can’t wait to work in an environment with young artists!
