Character Creation (Ages 5 - 8)
In Creating Characters with Chelsea, we will spend 8 weeks creating our very own characters and short scenes. Chelsea will encourage students to use their imagination to generate brand new characters and discover how their characters can interact in short scenes. This will be interspersed with games and activities to keep their curiosity active. We will invent, create, play, and have fun!

Classes for Ages 12+
Improvisation (Ages 12 - 15)
In this class, students will learn the basic skills of improvisational theatre through games and simple scene work. Skills include: how to give and receive ideas from their scene partner, the basics of character work, problem-solving, and learning how to tell simple stories while working together. Students will be challenged to listen to their scene partner(s) and provide strong offers. They will learn how to explore themes, tell enriched stories and create unique characters. This class can be taken a number of times. Students will perform a final improv showcase with lights and sound.

Collaborative Theatre (Ages 13 - 18)
Let’s put our writing, acting, and directing skills to the test! Students will develop their writing skills and self-expression through the process of creating and rehearsing their own play. This active and engaging class will be facilitated in person and will allow students to exercise their creative muscles in the SKAM Satellite Studio this spring! This class involves improvisation, writing, and collaborative discussion with award-winning director Anna Marie Anderson!

**Does a class say “waitlist only”? Just register like you normally would and you’ll be added to the waitlist automatically!
COVID-19 Update
Theatre SKAM’s policy requires all our staff to be fully vaccinated and in response to the provincial guidelines, we will not require children to be vaccinated to participate in our classes. We do recommend students be masked while participating, each teaching artist may have different requests of their students as per their comfort level within the classroom, make sure you read each class description for details.
