Acting and Story Creation (Ages 5-8)
January 23 – March 13 (8 classes) | Saturdays 10 a.m – 11 a.m
Teacher: Vanessa Wood
This is a class for aspiring young actors and creative minds to gain confidence, expression, and collaboration skills through story creation from the comfort of their own home. This beginner class will allow young actors to develop skills of communication, expression and collaboration through fun games, songs and creation activities. A supportive teaching artist will strive to create a comforting online environment for young actors to find their voice in the world of theatre.
Filmmaking (Ages 8-12)
January 19 – March 9 (8 classes) | Tuesdays 12:30 – 2 p.m
Teacher: Matthew Payne
Young aspiring filmmakers and performers will be delighted to take part in our new online film class. With Zoom as our platform for recording, we’ll make a wacky newscast, a wild cooking show with corny judges, and other short recorded works. (We’ll aim to make at least six short shows in total.) Learn some basic film tricks like putting on a hat with no hands and how to make a lightsaber fly into your hand. Students will learn about both sides of the camera and what it takes to act in and shoot a scene, mini commercials, and short films. The training will help develop confidence and communication skills and allows students to explore their potential in a safe and encouraging atmosphere. Students will need access to a laptop or computer, a bit of space to stand and move about, and, if possible, a bit of privacy from other family members and pets.
For students interested in making and editing their own films, please reach out to Kate, email@example.com. We’d be happy to arrange some private coaching for this!
