    Be part of a story!

    These camps are designed to encourage children to step playfully into their creative dramatic side. Working with all kinds of story making, playing with music, movement, artwork and creative drama exercises, students will be invited into and warmly encouraged to develop their expressive skills and confidence. Collaborative group work, dramatic expression in movement and voice, creating simple costumes and props will all be part of this wonderful creative week. At the end of the week, there will be a sharing of some of the exercises, activities and stories they have worked on. Full-day & half-day options are available.

    At snack break, weather permitting, students will be taken to a nearby park for time outside in the fresh air.

    Find your own characters!

    In this camp students will learn how to harness the creative spark of an idea and build a fully-formed, multi-dimensional character. Don’t have an idea yet? Don’t worry! Through engaging prompts and activities, we will invent, explore, discover and design the most fascinating and fun characters – all of your making! Already have an idea? Let’s make it a reality! The camp will culminate in a final performance of a solo piece by each student to show off all your hard work.

    Make your own movie!

    A five day fun-filled camp where students will create  a short movie collaboratively with teachers. Together they will create and present an original concept film along with sketches, (fake) commercials and movie trailers and learn to slate for auditions! Video-taping and playback are used throughout the camp to monitor student progress and to provide an understanding of how to work on camera for young actors. On the final day, we will have our own world premiere of our movie for parents and guests!

    Our FULL DAY program consists of a morning and an afternoon session each led by a professional teaching artist. The program gives students the opportunity to learn two unique skill sets in a fun and supportive environment. Food and play breaks are built into the day including a trip to the park and games.

    For Week Two, this camp consists of a morning session of Character Building and an afternoon session of Film Camp. See the descriptions of “Character Building” and “Film Camp” above for more info. Suitable for kids aged 9 & up.

    Seeking 15 bright young artists!

    Are you between the ages of 12 and 17?

    Are you excited by the whole process of creating and performing new plays?

    Young Company members will observe, discuss, critique and befriend national, provincial and local theatre professionals as they rehearse and perform in SKAMpede, a summer theatre festival on the Galloping Goose Trail. In the first week, the Young Company will participate in workshops, discussions and rehearsals facilitated by skilled and professional teachers and have all access passes to the SKAMpede Festival July 14 and 15. After SKAMpede, the Young Company will meet daily to create their own mini-festival of short works to be performed in public spaces on the Galloping Goose Trail. What more could a teen want? How about meals provided? Done! Audition/ interview required to be admitted to this program.

    Our goals are:

    • To provide a positive impact on the theatre community by working with the earliest of emerging artists in creating creation-based and devised theatre
    • Provide professional development training
    • Create a direct link between the work of professionals and emerging artists

    Create your own disguise!

    A five day extravaganza of art and creativity! Students will have the opportunity to create a mask and then discover the character that lives within. Throughout the camp, they will be introduced to classical mask work such as commedia dell’arte and the techniques that performers use to physically embody the character of the mask. The camp will culminate with a small performance for parents, a unique, personal and handcrafted mask, and knowledge that will allow them to continue to explore the magic the mask holds!

    During this busy week students will dance, act, sing, learn warm-ups, choreography, create characters, perform scenes, and string songs together into a mash-up of Musical Theatre hits. By the end of the week they will have a full musical performance extravaganza showcase for the parents and friends, complete with musical theatre songs and dances.. Student will also explore acting exercises to find the story of the songs they sing. No experience required – students don’t need to read music.
